The brief

A modern tropical-style early childhood development centre for an international school.

Spaces for young children need to feel safe, bright and easy to understand. A modern tropical approach favours shade, open-sided and ventilated spaces, and a close connection between classrooms and outdoor play.

Design considerations

Scale

Rooms, openings and details sized for young children.

Climate

Shade, overhangs and natural ventilation.

Indoor–outdoor

Direct links between learning spaces and play areas.
